Lucy and Fabian meet the old bookseller by Jacqueline Miller

Okay, I know I’m supposed to be writing several thousands of words a day for Nanowrimo, but today I drew a picture instead. It’s a scene from the back story of my WIP, (work in progress), a fantasy novel that begins in 1899 in France.

Here my MC, Lucy, and her father have entered a bookshop. For some unknown reason, the bookseller refuses to sell Lucy the book she wants.

I’ve co written a musical theatre type song to go with this scene.

During July 2014, I partipated in Campnano. I was in a private cabin with writers who’d met each other at NaNoWriMo last November and the April Campnano.

Although you have to write 50,000 words for the NaNoWriMo, for the camps you can decide what your target word count should be. I gave myself a low target of 10,000 words and then exceeded it.

It’s very inspiring to write in the company of others. In each cabin there is a community message board where you can comment and have “conversations”. Someone posted a Limerick by a famous writer on our message board last week, so I suggested we each wrote a limerick about the plot of the book we’re writing. No one really joined in this challenge, (it was probably too near the deadline for finishing our novels!) but here’s mine:

The Time Wizard

There once was a wizard who knew
How to travel through time and to do
Lots of magical tricks,
But he got in a fix
And the time machine malfunctioned, too!

If you’re writing a book have you ever tried writing a limerick about the plot? 😀
